YardScapes Day of Service 2015:
Four local nonprofits and one area homeowner benefited from YardScapes’ need-based initiative. Our mission: “demonstrating goodwill and environmental stewardship in revitalizing the places where people live, work, and play.”
Pratt Nature Center
The 201-acre wildlife preserve and environmental education center had entrance gardens in need of pruning, cleanup and mulching. An area overgrown with invasive plant material also received a cleanup.
Bulls Field
Installation of new landscaping, weeding and mulching of existing plant beds, over-seeding and fertilizing of 80,000 sq. ft. football field.
Steep Rock Land Trust
Volunteers cleared invasive plant material and refuse, including approximately 100 tires found in an overgrown wooded area of the public land trust.
Homeowner Site Volunteers cleaned up fallen leaves, pruned shrubs, dormant pruned trees, pruned Privet hedge.
The Creative Playground Installation of topsoil, in effort to stabilize playground’s walkway, created a safe play area for the community’s children.
