August is typically one of the hottest summer months and it is important to keep your new plantings watered regularly because their roots need this time to continue growing deep and strong. You should also pay special attention to plantings in direct sun and near concrete or pavement where temperatures are normally higher and any rain we do get doesn’t always have a chance to soak the soil sufficiently. Container plantings may need to be watered twice a day if you are not using self-watering pots. With 50 days of summer left before autumn, August is also a great time to look for pests in your turf and on your plants so they can be addressed. If you have any questions or concerns about the health of your property, please call the office or reach out to your landscape consultant. -Shayne
“Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer.” – Jenny Han
