This past Saturday, Nov. 4th, we held our annual Fall Day of Service Rake & Bake! This volunteer event is the most anticipated by our staff with 90% attendance. I’m proud that our team members were so excited to volunteer their time on a chilly November morning by giving back and enhancing several nonprofit organizations in our community.
This year, we were thrilled to have local Girl Scout Troop 40046 join us! Tracy, their leader, told us how the girls are learning about all types of volunteerism and this event was a perfect fit for the young girls. After being our guests for breakfast at HQ, the girls met us at Pratt Nature Center where they eagerly planted 150 daffodil bulbs!
In total, six teams descended on New Milford to perform the property clean ups at: Village Center for the Arts, St. John’s Episcopal Church, the Nathan Taylor House, Friends of New Milford, The Children’s Center, and Pratt Nature Center.
After several hours of volunteer work, we followed up with a cookout back at YardScapes’ Headquarters.
It truly was a rewarding day and an opportunity for us to enjoy some teambuilding. –Shayne

“We are so happy! We are thrilled!! You have made a huge impact on the aesthetics yes, BUT, also the safety factor for the children, AND the staff can finally park in the designated area without having to navigate through hanging branches and tree sap!! Tremendous thanks to all who volunteered their time to make such a wonderful impact for all of us at the Center but also in our community.” The Children, Staff and Board of Directors at the Children’s Center
