What is Estate Management?
As Landscape Professionals, we realize that the value of our services lies mainly in offering solutions that save time for our clients, both in the execution of work, as well as the arrangement and planning phases. Estate Management (EM) is the term for the bulk of our garden maintenance package offerings here at YardScapes. Coined in 1990, when Shayne began the business, it is not merely a fancy term for “mow and blow” (cut the grass and blow off the driveway of grass clippings) as offered by many companies.
EM is designed to be a totally custom solution for our maintenance clients, dependent on needs of the property as a whole, with appropriate time and dollar budgets taken into account. Realizing that every individual and site is different, we do our best to assess needs first, and together add or whittle down the options as dictated by time, seasonal needs and budget restraints.
How Does it Work?
The process is fluid and begins with an in-person meeting between you and the account manager to discuss said needs. Shayne, Giles, or Greg will meet you on-site and find out what it is you need. Some prefer every aspect of outdoor maintenance be handled by our EM teams, while others may prefer to have their hands in the process. Gardening is, after all, a generally enjoyable activity and we do have clients that maintain certain plants, vegetable gardens, sections, etc. while we handle the rest. We have one gentleman who takes a great deal of time and pride in cultivating and maintaining Dahlias, starting them from bulbs during the Winter. Every Spring, we have the opportunity to begin working on his relatively small lot (packed with hundreds of beautiful plants). He works alongside us, carefully tending to the Dahlias and applying a very specific quantity of water. I wouldn’t be surprised to learn he uses a graduated cylinder to fill his watering cans.
After needs are assessed, the property has been viewed, walked, and measured, a proposal will be delivered via mail, or email. All options discussed along with price points will be listed, and you simply select the appropriate ones and frequency. Once final approvals have been made, we will brief the primary crew that will handle your needs on the ins and outs, and they will arrive on the first scheduled date to begin beautifying the place.
Options
As you can see, this is not a cookie-cutter offering. As with anything in nature, no two individuals or properties are alike. Lastly, if something changes mid-season (say you thought you wanted to be a prize-winning vegetable grower, but now do not have time to bear a record winner) you can always call and make modifications. We’ll handle the rest, and don’t mind if you tell you friends that the bowling ball sized tomato is your work (after all, you planted it!).
