Drink Water and Do Your Stretches!
Day of Service – April 22nd, 2017
“Day of Service” is particularly near and dear to our hearts. In 2009, we became Day of Service charter participants, partnering with the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) in a nationwide volunteer outreach. In October 2016 we formally added another day where employees and partners from the community join forces to assist in a massive Fall Cleanup for local parks and non-profits.
“We believe everyone, everywhere benefits from a connection with nature”.
This isn’t just some generic tagline we made up. I am confidant in saying that all of us here have a genuine love and appreciation for the outdoors, and believe whole-heartedly in respecting the land. As such, the focus for this year’s DOS is improvement of local parks and preserves. The goal is to make these community assets safer, more attractive, and as easy to enjoy as possible, all while inspiring others to do the same. We will be performing routine maintenance such as removing brush, debris, spreading woodchips, and cutting small trees at the following local destinations:
Kent Land Trust’s Charles and Mary Rookery Beard Preserve (Kent, CT)
Lynn Deming Park (New Milford, CT)
The Pratt Center (New Milford, CT)
Steep Rock (Washington Depot, CT)
Bull’s Field (New Milford, CT)
Showtime will be at 8:30AM on April 22, 2017 (Earth Day) at 18 Aspetuck Ridge Road New Milford, CT. We will rally up, have coffee and donuts, get a brief overview, take a group photo, and proceed to the assigned locations. Eye and ear protection will be provided as necessary. We will all accomplish as much as possible before 1-1:30 then return to Headquarters and BBQ, have a beverage , and hang out.
Work hard/play hard!
