HERNDON, Va., March 1, 2006 — The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) announced today that Shayne Newman, CLP, of YardScapes, Inc. in New Milford, CT., passed the Certified Landscape Professional exam. The test was offered through the Connecticut Grounds Keepers Association.
To achieve the CLP designation, a candidate must master a body of material on all aspects of running a landscape business. The four-hour exam is divided into seven sections: Risk, Law, and Contracts; Human Resources; Production/Operation and Horticulture; Marketing; Leadership; Strategic Planning; and Corporate Financial Management.
An important part of the mission of the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) is to promote the professional advancement of its members. One means to achieve that goal is through a certification program that tests individuals against a national standard.
