Come gain invaluable experience learning all aspects of the landscape industry with our award winning, Landscape Industry Accredited Company. Upon completion of your internship you will have gained valuable experience working in the field, managing accounts, managing crew members, office management and HR, accounts payable and receivable, marketing and advertising, and managing a facility and fleet of vehicles and equipment.
Get hands on experience using Aspire, a state of the art landscaping business management software that includes Sales Management CRM, Estimating, Invoicing, Mobile Time, Purchasing, Reporting, Scheduling, and Accounting integrated with QuickBooks.
Below is a brief description of what you can expect to experience during each phase of your internship.
Field Technician:
Time will be spent working alongside our team members in our four main green season divisions; Enhancements, Construction, Maintenance, and Lawn Care.
Enhancements:
Will include regular Estate Management services (weeding, pruning, scouting) as well as spreading mulch.
Construction:
Work may include installing new plantings designed by account managers, laying sod, installing drainage.
Maintenance:
Depending on time of season, may include Spring or Fall Cleanups or weekly Lawn Cutting and Trimming.
Lawn Care:
Seasonal fertilizer applications and weed control, lime applications, pest scouting.
Account Manager:
Manage both residential and commercial high end accounts. This will include working with clients to ensure their desires for their properties are being met and exceeded, building estimates using our state of the art Aspire software, performing site visits and quality audits, working with Operations Manager to ensure proper scheduling and discuss job details, meeting crews on site to direct on special work orders, approving completed work and invoicing, and providing excellent client service.
Operations Manager:
Ensure recurring jobs like weekly Lawn Cutting and Trimming and Estate Management services are completed to quality and efficiency requirements. Hands on experience using Aspire to schedule, record, purchase and generate/analyze reports. Communicate with crew leaders to ensure special requests are met on client properties. Manage inventory of common materials, build PO’s and order additional inventory as needed. Work with Office Manager/accounts payable to process vendor invoices. Schedule work orders and select crews, trucks, and specialty equipment according to needs of the job. Manage work tickets to completion and approve employee hours for payroll. Work with Fleet Manager to coordinate equipment and vehicle repairs.
Office Manager:
Working collaboratively with the Operations Manager to ensure job materials and time have been properly allocated in Aspire to each job before timely and accurate payments are made to all vendors, subcontractors and employees. Screen new applicants for possible employment, maintain employee files and handle all human resources related matters through the course of their employment. Maintain company files related to Certificates of Insurance required of subcontractors, as well as those requested by clients from us. Navigate and complete all required documents to acquire our foreign workers through the H2B program.
Client Relations:
Answer incoming calls and initiate communication with potential clients regarding services we provide, as well as engage in positive communication to existing clients basic questions regarding their scheduled services, account balances or additional services they may be considering. Coordinate with Account Managers to execute timely processing of Accounts Receivable and enter subsequent payments in Aspire for accurate financial reporting. Follow up on overdue accounts and initiate collections procedures when necessary. Coordinate monthly company outings and other related charity events.
Marketing and Advertising:
Compose and send Email Marketing messages to current clients, business networking groups, and community members to advise of current Landscape Industry trends, YardScapes business and community service happenings, and service-specific news. Manage website, adding relevant content (blogs, photographs, video, service descriptions, employee-specific announcements, etc.). Monitor inbound website traffic and determine/implement appropriate Search Engine Optimization techniques. Work with Operations and Account Management Teams to photograph/video work performed, employees in action to improve morale of existing employees and attract potential clients. Maintain branding and “voice” of company through social media posts, press releases to media outlets, and various communications to external partner. Prepare engaging literature, graphics, and printed products for distribution internally and to current and potential clients. Constantly learn and implement methods to prepare engaging content (visual and written) and distribute through traditional advertising as well as digital methods. Coordinate community service events with Admin staff and document processes to foster community relations.
Fleet/Facilities Manager:
Perform in house repairs on small tools and equipment, specialty equipment, lawn mowers, and company vehicles. Arrange service for equipment that cannot be repaired in house. Manage inventory of commonly used parts. Make arrangements with Operations Manager when equipment or vehicles need to be taken out of service to make repairs. Perform regular preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment. Perform minor repairs at facility as needed. Keep a clean, safe, and professional looking facility.
